The Governors of The Royal Ballet Companies

Governors of the Royal Ballet Companies

In 1956 the Royal Ballet was granted a Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth II. Under the Charter a body of Governors was set up whose ultimate duty it is to safeguard the future of the Company (which now includes The Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet and The Royal Ballet School) and to be the custodians of the traditions established by Dame Ninette de Valois in the formation of the Company and School in 1931. The Governors delegate the running of the three companies to their respective Boards of Directors, including to the Board of Birmingham Royal Ballet.
