Name: Izzy Lucas-Garner

Age: 16

Where are you from? Shrewsbury

I am currently at college studying: Maths, Biology and Psychology A-level. However, in the evening, I take part in many dance classes and I also enjoying teaching dance alongside this!

I am a LEAP ambassador because... I am an enthusiastic individual with a passion for the arts, and I look forward to sharing the magic of Birmingham Royal Ballet!

I am passionate about... the inclusion of everyone to share the joy of dance and for it to be an experience that everyone can be involved in- for all people to have access to the same opportunities regardless of their background.

An interesting fact about me is... I organised a danceathon during lockdown that raised £2465 for the NHS!

My first encounter with Birmingham Royal Ballet was... when I was only 7 years old, my family and I went to watch The Nutcracker! I remember being in awe of the snowflake dance, the Sugarplum fairy but my favourite dance was the Tea dance because I loved all of the amazing leaps, jumps and tricks they did. We came to watch the Nutcracker and many other ballets for years after (and still to this day!), it’s always an evening out that I look forward to because all 3 generations are in amazement at the ballet; the dancers' strength, emotion and passion.

What is your favourite ballet? I love Don Quixote. The costumes, the style, the joy- its amazing and so full of energy!
