Born in San Sebastián, Iratxe trained in the Basque Country and at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart. For more than 20 years, she danced for some of the most important European companies including, Basel Ballet, Gulbenkian Ballet, Spanish National Dance Company (under the Directorship of Nacho Duato), Lyon Opéra Ballet and Netherlands Dance Theatre (NDT).

After leaving NDT she became a freelance artist, developing her own methodology and voice as a creator, by working with dancers of different cultures, schools and nationalities. In 2019 Iratxe and Igor Bacovich founded Metamorphosis Dance, a company based in Madrid. Since then they have combined directing their own company with their careers as guest choreographers with European dance companies. In 2020 Iratxe was recognized for her achievements with the National Prize for Dance in Spain. Luna is Iratxe's first project with Birmingham Royal Ballet.
