Alice Robson
Name: Alice Robson
Age: 22
Where are you from? I am originally from Durham in the Northeast but am currently living in Coventry.
I am currently… in my fourth and final year studying Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Warwick.
I am a LEAP Ambassador because… I love theatre and the arts! I’m getting to the point where I have to leave education and go into the big adult world and I’m trying to work out what I want to do. I’ve done performance before but never felt like it fits me completely. Last year, I found out more about technical theatre through Warwick Tech Crew and I feel like it’s the perfect middle ground between my love of arts and my degree. It’s not long until I have to move on so I want to take advantage of any backstage opportunity that I can get my hands on, and the LEAP ambassador programme was perfect.
What are you passionate about? As an industrial engineer, I am really interested in efficiency and optimisation. There’s a certain beauty in the perfection and lines of ballet that appeals to me. I’m especially interested in how pointe shoes work – they seem almost gravity defying.
An interesting fact about me is… I have a Level 1 qualification in British Sign Language.
My first encounter with Birmingham Royal Ballet was… The videos that Birmingham Royal Ballet have of their ballet classes on Youtube. They very calming to watch before going to sleep.
