Momoko HirataBorn in Gunma, Japan, Momoko Hirata trained at the Reiko Yamamoto Ballet School and the Royal Ballet School. She won the Prix de Lausanne (2001). She joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2003; First Artist, 2005; Soloist, 2008; First Soloist, 2010. She joined Barcelona Ballet in 2011 as a First Soloist and was promoted to Principal in the same year. Her repertory included Swan Lake (Odette/Odile), Christopher Wheeldon's DGV and Polyphonia and Clark Tippet's Bruch Violin Concerto. She danced the Tchaikovsky pas de deux for Nina Ananiashvili 30th Anniversary, partnered by Angel Corella. She returned to Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2012.
