Annual Appeal

For more than 17 years, Birmingham Royal Ballet has grown with the support of financial donations from our audiences, and the impressive results of this partnership are recognised the world over.

Birmingham Royal Ballet leads the world in the creation and presentation of works that no other ballet company does – new full-length pieces by David Bintley (such as our recent production of Cyrano), new one-act ballets and our own versions of the popular classics. This core programme of internationally acclaimed work is enhanced by a whole range of special projects for the benefit of more than 9,000 children and young people each year (such as Ballet Hoo! which was recently televised on Channel 4).

However, ticket sales and public subsidy alone are not sufficient to achieve this level and range of activity. We need the help of our audience in order to continue as a highly creative, world-class ballet company, committed to providing opportunities for young and old alike to develop and enjoy a love of ballet.

Our Annual Appeal is asking you to support the company with regular donations. The steady income provides us with a solid foundation to ensure that we can plan for a successful future. Your gifts help the ballet operate at the highest level of excellence by providing for ongoing necessities which can not be funded any other way.

£20 per month

will pay for half a day of rehearsal room hire for the Royal Ballet Sinfonia. It is vitally important that we are able to rehearse with the orchestra: can you imagine attending the ballet without live music?

£10 per month

or a one-off donation of £120, will pay for two physiotherapy appointments for one of our dancers. Our dancers are our most precious resource - without them there would be no performances. It costs up to £10,000 to treat a major dance injury. We provide more than 3,500 physiotherapy sessions to help treat and prevent major injuries to our dancers.

£6 per month

will help pay for pointe shoes for our ballerinas. Each ballerina will use over 200 pairs of shoes every year, with costs of up to £75 every time she performs.

As a charity we can reclaim tax you have already paid on your gift, increasing its value to Birmingham Royal Ballet by 28 pence in every £1 at absolutely no cost to you.
