Freefall Five, April 2008

Freefall celebrated its fifth birthday with its first full evening's entertainment in April 2008, a mixture of five new and established repertory pieces that demonstrated their diversity and talent as performers and creators. The ballets performed were a mixture of narrative and abstract dance that explored the full range of emotions in the inimitable Freefall style.

Choreography Freefall Dance Company

Created in 2006, Boothill Ballet typifies the company’s tongue-in-cheek take on a modern classic… the spaghetti western – with just a hint of Monty Python in there somewhere.

Nightshade

Choreography Freefall Dance Company

Taking and exploring themes from horror and film noir movies, an abstract piece that demonstrates the versatility of Freefall, the dancers’ ease at embracing all dance genres and the emotional intensity they can portray. Created in 2007 using original composition by Richard Syner and video footage of Freefall’s choreography as a starting-point, the music for Nightshade was created by Mary Martin (Royal Ballet Sinfonia), Michael Dollan (Sage Gateshead) and the pupils of Fox Hollies School.
